Head of Research Center on Violence Against Women to Speak

Jordan’s discussion also will include details of the new interdisciplinary UK Center for Research on Violence Against Women.

 

April 16, 2003 (Lexington, Ky.) -- Carol E. Jordan, executive director of the Governor’s Office of Child Abuse and Domestic Violence Services and acting director of the University of Kentucky Center for Research on Violence Against Women, will speak at a brown bag session on Thursday, April 24, in 102 Mining and Minerals Building on the UK campus. The session, sponsored by the UK Women’s Forum, will begin at 11:30 a.m.

Jordan’s talk, “Building a Research Agenda for the Safety of Women,” will address the nature and extent of violence against women in Kentucky and the nation. She will provide information on the prevalence and impact of crimes such as rape, stalking and domestic violence.

Jordan’s discussion also will include details of the new interdisciplinary UK Center for Research on Violence Against Women.

The brown bag session is free and open to the public.
