UK Women's Basketball Coach Mickie DeMoss and President Lee Todd welcomed new students and their families to campus during the Cat Walk prior to Opening Convocation.

August 25, 2003 (Lexington, Ky.) -- Incoming freshmen and transfer students were given the opportunity to commemorate the beginning of their collegiate careers at the University of Kentucky during the Kentucky Welcome Opening Convocation held Saturday, Aug. 23, in Memorial Coliseum.

The event, which welcomes new freshmen and transfer students to campus, also served as the official opening of the 2003-2004 academic year for all students. Classes begin Wednesday, Aug. 27.

UK President Lee T. Todd Jr., First Lady Patricia Brantley Todd, Provost Mike Nietzel, Student Government President Rachel Watts, and Student Ambassador Anthony Gray spoke at the event. Watts led the new students in their official UK pinning ceremony.
