Suspect in Sexual Abuse Case Sought

August 28, 2003 (Lexington, Ky.) -- University of Kentucky Police have issued a “safety alert” for a suspect in a sexual abuse case reported on the UK campus Wednesday, Aug. 27.

Police say a 19-year-old female UK student was sexually abused in a parking lot at the corner of Woodland Avenue and Columbia Avenue near the William T. Young Library. The unknown suspect approached her from behind while she was walking through the parking lot.

The suspect is male, white, 6’0”, approximately 230 pounds, and 20 to 30 years of age. He had short, light brown or blonde hair. He was wearing a red shirt and denim pants. The victim described the subject as being muscular.

UK Police offer the following safety precautions:

  • Do not travel alone after dark; instead, travel in pairs and groups.
  • Always be aware of your surroundings and what other people around you are doing.
  • Park only in well-lit areas.
  • If you see a subject matching the above description or anyone acting suspicious, go to the nearest phone and call 911.
  • Be aware of where the emergency phones are located.
