Additional Funding Needed for MRLS Study

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 8, 2003) -- University of Kentucky scientists are tantalizingly close to answers to the mystery of the Mare Reproductive Loss Syndrome outbreak that killed thousands of foals in Central Kentucky in 2001. Although a study estimated the economic impact to the state in 2001 and 2002 could be close to $450 million, funding to continue researching the disease appears to be drying up. (- more -)
