McLean County Student Gets Scholarship

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 2, 2003) -- Eric Ray Durbin, a graduate of McLean County High School, has been awarded the 2003 Robert C. Ryans and Alta M. and John K. Ryans, Sr., Endowed Scholarship in the University of Kentucky College of Communication and Information Studies School of Journalism and Telecommunications.

The scholarship was presented to Durbin at a recent college awards dinner which included a celebration of the college’s 10th anniversary.

Durbin, who attended Owensboro Community College after high school and transferred to UK for the fall 2002 semester, plans to work for a television station or possible NASCAR Telecommunications after graduation.

While a student at McLean County High School, Durbin participated in a two-year Cisco Certified Networking Associate Program at Owensboro Technical College where he attained a 4.0 grade point average.

Eric also worked as a technology technician assistant for two summers with the McLean County School District and helped start the first Student Technology Leadership Program at McLean County High School.
