Jan.
31, 2003 (Lexington, Ky.) --
Ann Cudd, philosophy professor and director of the
Women’s Studies Program at the University of
Kansas, will discuss the topic “Is Globalization
Bad for Women?” at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb.
6, in 206 UK Student Center.
The public lecture is free and is sponsored by the
UK Women’s Studies Program.
“I
will argue that globalization presents opportunities
to increase gender equality worldwide,” Cudd
said. “The degree of the positive results of
globalization on gender inequality will depend on
the specific policies enacted by global financial,
monetary and trade institutions, as well as national
governments,” she added.
