Smoking Cessation Participants Eligible for Bluegrass Quit and Win

Participants also will have the opportunity to enter the “Bluegrass Quit and Win” contest, which begins Feb. 14. Contest participants have a chance to win a grand prize of $2500 or a second prize of $500 for staying tobacco free for 30 days.

 

Feb. 11, 2003 (Lexington, Ky.) -- The University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center and its Cancer Control Program are sponsoring a free smoking cessation program for the UK community and the public.

The Cooper/Clayton Smoking Cessation program is a 12-week, group support program that uses research-based methods to help people stop smoking. Participants will learn how to pick a nicotine replacement product best suited for them and also will learn important relapse prevention strategies, nutrition, exercise and metabolism information.

Participants also will have the opportunity to enter the “Bluegrass Quit and Win” contest, which begins Feb. 14. Contest participants have a chance to win a grand prize of $2500 or a second prize of $500 for staying tobacco free for 30 days.

Starting Feb. 11, the free class will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the first floor of the UK Markey Cancer Center Whitney Hendrickson Building. To register or for more information, please call (859) 323-5278. Walk-ins are welcome.
