UK Wind Ensemble to Perform
at National Band Conference

The UK group was one of only seven selected by a panel of five nationally prominent conductors from about 30 university ensembles from across the United States who submitted recordings for consideration.

 

Feb. 7, 2003 (Lexington, Ky.) -- The University of Kentucky Wind Ensemble will perform a featured concert for the National Conference of the College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA) set for March 26-30 at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, Minn.

The UK Wind Ensemble, directed by music Professor Richard Clary, also performed at this conference in 1997.

The UK group was one of only seven selected by a panel of five nationally prominent conductors from about 30 university ensembles from across the United States who submitted recordings for consideration. Other groups selected to perform are the University of Southern California, Arizona State University, Ohio State University, the University of Miami, and Indiana University. Also performing will be the Schwab School of Music from Columbus, Ga., and the host ensemble from the University of Minnesota.

The UK Wind Ensemble will perform a “CBDNA Preview” concert March 5 in the Singletary Center for the Arts, and also present concerts at selected high schools in Illinois and Wisconsin on its way to the engagement in Minneapolis on March 27.

The University of Kentucky Wind Ensemble includes 50 wind and percussion performers in the School of Music.
