July 24, 2003 (Lexington, Ky.) -- The Southeastern Conference had 17 student-athletes named first-team Verizon Academic All America for the 2002-03 academic year, the most by any conference in the nation. In addition, the SEC had 13 second-team selections and five third-team winners, bringing the league’s total to 35 honorees.

The University of Kentucky was represented by senior track and field star Simidele Adeagbo, a first-team selection who also was an All-American in the triple jump twice in 2003, and senior softball player Lyndsey Angus, a second-team selection who also was a three time All-SEC honoree. more
