June 23, 2003 (Lexington, Ky.) -- Between June 23 and July 24 over 3,000 new and transfer students will arrive on campus for their first taste of life as a student at the University of Kentucky. Those students will be here to attend the Summer Advising Conference offered by the UK Office of Undergraduate Admission and University Registrar.

The Summer Advising Conference facilitates a smooth transition for new students by providing them with the necessary information they will need to succeed at UK. A variety of conferences are organized, with the focus on freshmen students and parents.

“The advising conference gives students the opportunity to learn about the university, the services offered to students and the academic programs that are available to them,” said Suzanne McGurk, associate director of undergraduate admission and university registrar. “Before they leave the conference, they will enroll in classes for their first semester at the university.”

All freshmen who will be attending UK in fall 2003 will attend a two-day program. The dates are June 23-24, June 24-25, June 30-July 1, July 7-8, July 8-9, July 9-10, July 14-15, July 15-16, July 16-17, July 21-22, and July 22-23.
