The agriculture engineering students will use proceeds from the lawnmower clinic to fund projects such as research and development of their quarter-scale tractor, seen here on display at the UK College of Engineering E-Day Open House last month.

Providing preventative maintenance as lawn mowing season approaches, the clinic will be open from 7:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. on Friday, March 28, and from 7:30 a.m. until 9 a.m. Saturday, March 29, at the UK Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering Machinery Shop on Stadium View Drive off College Way and Alumni Drive.

March 21, 2003 (Lexington, Ky.) -- University of Kentucky Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering students are taking a fund-raiser to the cutting edge by holding a lawnmower tune-up clinic to raise money for projects.

For $25 the students, all familiar with small-engine maintenance, will change the oil, clean the spark plug and adjust its gap, sharpen and balance the blade, clean the air filter, drain the fuel system and give the mower a thorough cleaning. A new spark plug is optional for an additional $3.

For an additional $25 ($30 for two or more mowers), the students will pick up and deliver mowers to areas of Lexington that lie within the boundaries of Man o’ War Boulevard. Mowers will be picked up all day Friday and Saturday morning and returned Saturday or Sunday afternoon.

To ensure that your mower receives service, call 257-3000 ext. 201 and speak to a representative or leave a message including your name, phone number and make and model of mower (if known). Also indicate whether you would like a new spark plug, and if you would like your mower to be picked up and delivered.

The students cannot service reel mowers, garden tractors or riding lawn mowers. They will accept only machines that are operational.
