UK Dean Receives Distinguished Alumni Award

Since becoming dean of the UK College of Pharmacy in March 2000, the college's endowment funding has more than tripled, and research funding has risen from $4.5 million to $10 million. Roberts serves on Kentucky's Pharmacy Leadership Council and the Board of Health, and was appointed by Gov. Paul Patton to serve on the Kentucky Innovations Commission.

 

March 14, 2003 (Lexington, Ky.) -- University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy Dean Kenneth B. Roberts, Ph.D, has received the 2003 Distinguished Alumnus Award from the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy.

Roberts received his doctorate in health care administration from the University of Mississippi in 1975. He served as dean of the UM School of Pharmacy and executive director of the Research Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences from 1989 through 2000.

In 1998, Roberts was named Outstanding Dean of Pharmacy Education by the American College of Apothecaries and, in the same year, was the recipient of the Innovative Pharmacy Practice Award from the Mississippi Society of Health-System Pharmacists.

"I am honored to be an alumnus of the University of Mississippi," Roberts said. "This degree and my association with the University of Mississippi truly have made a remarkable difference in what my life has turned out to be."

Recipients of the University of Mississippi Distinguished Alumnus Award are selected based upon professional accomplishments and service to the School of Pharmacy, its students, faculty, staff and alumni.
