March 7, 2003 (Lexington, Ky.) -- Tyler Stovall, a history professor at the University of California at Berkeley, whose research interests are 20th century France and the history of race, will speak at the University of Kentucky at 2 p.m. Friday,
March 14, in the President’s Room of the UK Singletary Center for the Arts.
Stovall’s remarks are sponsored by the UK Committee on Social Theory, an interdisciplinary program in the UK College of Arts and Sciences. The lecture is free and open to the public.
Stovall has written several books including “The Rise of the Paris Red Belt,” “African Americans in the City of Light,” and “France Since the Second World War: Seminar Studies in History.” He also is co-editor of a book, titled “Color of Liberty: Histories of Race in France.”
