UK College of Dentistry/Medicine Professor Honored

Miller has been an AAOM member since 1986. During this time, he has held numerous offices and leadership positions that have substantially advanced the society's mission. In particular, his efforts have led to the formation of the Oral Medicine Foundation and the development of national research consortia.

 

May 19, 2003 (Lexington, Ky.) -- Craig S. Miller, D.M.D., M.S., professor of oral medicine, microbiology, immunology and molecular genetics, University of Kentucky College of Dentistry and College of Medicine, was elected president of the American Academy of Oral Medicine (AAOM) at the 57th annual meeting of the academy in Tucson, Ariz., earlier this month.

Miller has been an AAOM member since 1986. During this time, he has held numerous offices and leadership positions that have substantially advanced the society's mission. In particular, his efforts have led to the formation of the Oral Medicine Foundation and the development of national research consortia. His distinguished efforts in scientific research were recognized at the meeting with the presentation of the Samuel Charles Miller Medal.

The American Academy of Oral Medicine was founded in 1945 as the American Academy of Dental Medicine and is committed to providing the highest quality, comprehensive, oral health care for patients with medical illness.

Miller serves in a number of prominent roles in several national organizations. He is president-elect of the Oral Medicine and Oral Pathology Section of the American Association of Dental Research and a Fellow of the American College of Dentists and serves on the Scientific Advisory Board for the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research.
