Federal Bank Economist to Speak

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 25, 2003) -- David Altig, vice president and associate director of research in the Research Department of the Federal Reserve Bank in Cleveland, will speak at the University of Kentucky from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, in 148 Gatton College of Business and Economics building. Altig will speak about current economic events and how the Federal Reserve has reacted to the current slowdown in the United States and where he sees the economy heading.

Altig received his doctoral degree from Brown University; his research focuses on monetary and fiscal policy issues. In addition, he manages the department’s money and macroeconomics division and has primary oversight responsibility for the department’s Central Bank Institution.

Altig is an adjunct associate professor of economics in the Graduate School of Business at the University of Chicago. He has lectured in economics at Brown University, Case Western University, Cleveland State University, John Carroll University, Kent State University, and the University of Iowa.
