LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 6, 2003) -- The University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center’s Multidisciplinary Lung Cancer Program is sponsoring a free smoking cessation program for the UK community and the public beginning Tuesday, Oct. 14.

The Cooper/Clayton Smoking Cessation program is a 12-week, group support program that uses research-based methods to help people stop smoking. Participants will learn how to pick a nicotine replacement product best suited for them and also will learn important relapse prevention strategies, nutrition, exercise, and metabolism information.

The free class will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the first floor waiting area of the Whitney-Hendrickson Building at Markey Cancer Center. Convenient, free parking is available. To register or for more information, call (859) 323-5278. Walk-ins are welcome.
