LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 22, 2004) -- The students of University of Kentucky art professor Arturo Alonzo Sandoval’s Senior Seminar Group are participating in an art contest hosted by L3 Communications.

The contest will be held Thursday, April 22, at the L3 Communications’ Annual “Tribute to Excellence” award dinner in Lexington.

L-3 Communications Joint Operations Group is a U.S. Department of Defense contractor headquartered at Bluegrass Station in Lexington.

“The art display by students in the Department of Art in the UK College of Fine Arts and contest are an excellent prelude to the evening’s activities, and it is a welcomed opportunity for L-3 to get involved in the community by showcasing and supporting local artists,” said Janna S. Hensinger, administrator for L-3 Communications.

The students participating in the art contest are:

• Joshua Bowles, a senior photography major from Owensboro;
• Chris Buckler, a senior art studio major from Louisville;
• Wanda Howard, a senior art major from Busy in Perry County;
• Joseph Daniel Knipp, a senior art studio major from Ashland;
• Bonnie Menges, a senior art studio major from Rowlett, Texas.;
• Amy Morrison, a senior art studio major from Aurora, Co.;
• Mary Nehring, a senior art studio major from Versailles;
• Lilly Totten, a senior art studio major from Louisville;
• Edward Shuman, a senior art studio major from Lexington; and
• Kristen Watkins, a senior art major from Mt. Sterling.
