LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 22, 2004) -- Victoria Bradley, director of patient information and project director for enterprise-wide integrated clinical information system implementation at the University of Kentucky Hospital, was elected to the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Board of Directors. She will serve a three-year term, beginning July 2005.

Bradley is currently working toward her doctorate of nursing practice at the UK College of Nursing.

Bradley is the co-chair of the HIMSS Nursing Informatics Symposium Planning Committee. Formerly, she chaired the Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems Committee and served on the Certification Work Group. She believes that HIMSS needs to champion the development of evidence-based information technology practices through standard-setting activities, evaluation and research, as well as increase members’ participation in public policy. She hopes to promote the combination of research, education and advocacy to foster the incorporation of information technology best practices into the health care delivery system.

Bradley said, “I am honored to be selected to serve on the HIMSS board. I am very excited to have the opportunity to represent nursing and UK HealthCare in informatics initiatives at the national level. I strongly believe that IT will be increasingly instrumental in our ability to improve the quality of health care and decrease health care costs.”
