LEXINGTON,
Ky. (Feb. 13, 2004) -- The
University of Kentucky College of Engineering
will hold its annual Engineers Day open house
from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004,
featuring contests to spur the creativity and
imaginations of young people.
Among
the events are an egg-drop crash survivability
contest, with participants inventing containers
to protect eggs from 20-foot falls; an edible-car
contest to build small cars with food items; an
index-card bridge contest; and the popular “Rube
Goldberg” contest, where participants will
invent elaborate, silly ways to sink a one-foot
putt.
The
day also features tours of College of Engineering
laboratories and demonstrations of student projects.
