LEXINGTON,
Ky. (Feb. 23, 2004) -- Nominations
are being sought for the 2004 Algernon Sydney
Sullivan Medallion, which honors graduating seniors
and
non-students for their commitment to community
service.
The
medallion recognizes a male and a female student
who possess characteristics of heart, mind and
spirit that demonstrate a spirit of love for and
helpfulness to other people. Eligible students
are those who will graduate in May 2004 or who
received their bachelor’s degrees in August
2003 or December 2003. The award also is presented
to a non-student who is either a UK employee, alumnus
or friend.
“This
is a prestigious award because it recognizes individuals
who demonstrate a commitment to improving the lives
of other people,” said UK nursing associate
professor Carolyn Lewis, chair of the 2004 Sullivan
Awards Committee.
