LEXINGTON,
Ky. (Feb. 27, 2004) -- The University
of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center, nationally
known for its work and research in the field
of cancer detection and treatment, will oversee
application of a new health care initiative announced
today by U.S. Representative Hal Rogers (KY-05).
The initiative aims to increase survival rates
for lethal cancers. Rogers obtained $1 million
in federal funding to start the project, which
serves the 29 counties in his 5th Congressional
District.
