LEXINGTON,
Ky. (Jan. 5, 2004) -- Four
faculty members from the University of Kentucky School
of Music will be performing a great work
a great distance from home Jan. 9, 2004.
Conductor
Julian Shew, violinist Daniel Mason, pianist Irina
Voro, and cellist Benjamin Karp will be playing
the “Triple Concerto” of Beethoven
with the Tianjin
Philharmonic in Tianjin, China.
Shew,
a native of China, is already in Asia. Voro and
Karp will travel together directly to Beijing,
where they will meet Mason, who will have spent
four days teaching in Seoul, South Korea.
While
it is unusual for the four to travel so far to
perform together, each individual regularly performs
and teaches internationally.
