LEXINGTON,
Ky. (Jan. 23, 2004) --
The University of Kentucky Parking and Transportation
Department has expanded its free evening and late-night
service of The Campus Area Transit System, better
known as the CATS bus service, beginning tonight.
“In
the interest of safety due to the recent criminal
activity on and near campus, we are expanding the
bus service to cover the weekend nights,” said
Ken Clevidence, associate vice president for Campus
Services.
CATS will continue to run its regular night route
from 4:30 to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday, with
on-call pick up service from 11 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.
Students may arrange a ride during the on-call times
by calling 221-RIDE (7433). In addition, the CATS
bus service now will be available to transport riders
from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Friday and Saturday and 7
p.m. to midnight on Sunday. The Thursday night call-in
service also has been extended from 1:30 a.m. to 3
a.m.
