Sunday, Jan. 25 at around 5:25 a.m., a UK student
reported he had been accosted by two men, a white
male and a black male, with a tire iron. The incident
occurred on Kentucky Court and is being investigated
by the Lexington Fayette Urban County Police Department.

LEXINGTON,
Ky. (Jan. 25, 2004) -- The University
of Kentucky Police Department has issued
a “Campus Safety Alert” following
a series of armed robberies which occurred in
areas near the campus.
On
Sunday, Jan. 25 at around 5:25 a.m., a UK student
reported he had been accosted by two men, a white
male and a black male, with a tire iron. The incident
occurred on Kentucky Court and is being investigated
by the Lexington Fayette Urban County Police Department.
Until
the suspects are apprehended, UK Police remind
all members of the campus community to take the
following precautions to protect yourself:
- After
dark, DO NOT travel alone. While on campus, use
the campus bus service or the SGA Escort Service.
Call the UK Police if these services are not
available.
- Travel
on well-lighted main thoroughfares with lots
of pedestrian and motor vehicle traffic.
- Always
be aware of your surroundings and any activity
or persons that seem out of place.
- Only
carry a minimal amount of cash.
If
you are accosted, COMPLY with the demands of
your assailant and report the incident immediately
to police by dialing 911.
