Board of Trustees Budget Story

LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 22, 2004) -- The University of Kentucky Board of Trustees today appointed Kimberly P. Wilson as associate vice president of human resources, effective June 1, 2004. She has been serving as acting director of human resources at UK since March 2004.

A 1979 UK graduate with a Master of Business Administration from Rockhurst College in Kansas City, Mo., Wilson will direct UK human resource divisions dealing with compensation, employment, employee benefits, Wellness/Health Literacy, employee relations, employee training and development, temporary employment (STEPS), unemployment, and Elder Care.

Wilson will report to Richard Siemer, executive vice president for finance and administration. “It is a true pleasure to be able to promote Kim Wilson to this highly responsible position,” Siemer said. “In the past year, she has exhibited a tremendous amount of capability and decision-making responsibility in the very areas she will now direct.”

From May 2002 to August 2003, Wilson was a development manager in Human Resources, where she developed a three-year business plan to address the employee development needs at all levels of the institution. From August 2003 to March 2004, she was Siemer’s chief of staff, responsible for the office’s day-to-day operations.

From 1994 to 2001, Wilson worked for Reuters, the world’s largest provider of financial information. From 2000-2001, she was deputy director of the the Reuters Group, PLC, and director of the organization’s strategy and development.

From 1998 to 2000, Wilson was director of human resources for the global sales and operations division of the Reuters Group, PLC, and was headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. From 1995 to 1998, she was based in London, England, as deputy director for the organization’s human resources.

From 1994 to 1995, Wilson was vice president for human resources for Reuters Americas, based in New York City.

From 1989 to 1994, she was vice president for human resources for the Knight-Ridder Financial Information Group in Kansas City, Kan., and from 1985 to 1989, she was director of human resources for the Lexington Herald-Leader, a Knight-Ridder newspaper in Lexington, Ky.
