Board of Trustees Budget Story

LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 22, 2004) -- The University of Kentucky Board of Trustees today approved the appointment of Bob Wiseman as Vice President for Facilities Management. The appointment is effective July 1, 2004. In addition to his ongoing responsibilities for managing the Campus Physical Plant Division, Medical Center Physical Plant Division, Medical Center Office of Facilities Planning and Resource Management, and the Capital Projects Management Division, he will also now work with the Associate Vice President for Auxiliary Services, Ben Crutcher.

Wiseman has been serving as Associate Vice President for Facilities since May 14, 2003. Richard Siemer, the executive vice president for finance and administration to whom he reports, called Wiseman “an extraordinary talent who brings a keen eye and a personal touch to all he does. His prior leadership experience with the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government enables him to help the university focus its productive energies and resources on issues that affect all of us in Central Kentucky.”

Wiseman received his undergraduate and graduate degrees in public administration from the University of Kentucky. He served as Lexington Commissioner of Public Works, overseeing five operating divisions and numerous construction projects involving buildings, parking garages, roads, utilities and historic structure renovations.

Additionally, Wiseman was executive assistant to two Lexington mayors, overseeing major capital programs and serving as liaison to UK and the Kentucky General Assembly.

Wiseman has had an extensive relationship with UK, including serving as a member of the Campus Master Plan Committee, College Town Steering Committee, and Martin School Board of Visitors. He was also involved in the initial creation of the UK Coldstream Research Campus on Newtown Pike in Lexington.

In recent years, Wiseman has taught graduate-level courses in public administration at UK.
