LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 22, 2004) -- Children who have survived life-threatening illnesses, injuries and birth defects were recognized as “champions” during the Children’s Miracle Network Celebration, which was broadcast live June 18 and 19 from Applebee’s Park in Lexington on WKYT-TV, channel 27 (Lexington), and WYMT-TV, channel 57 (Hazard). The two-day event celebrated a year of giving, with donations totaling $1,256,810.

The University of Kentucky Children’s Hospital was the local beneficiary for the 17th year of the annual Children’s Miracle Network Celebration to raise funds for 170 children’s hospitals across North America.

The Children’s Miracle Network is unique among national fund-raisers in that all money raised in Kentucky stays in Kentucky to benefit the UK Children’s Hospital.
