a physics and mathematics major in the College
of Arts and Sciences, is a 2000 graduate of the
Villa Madonna Academy and has a 3.977 grade point
average at UK. He also is the recipient of the
Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship, the highest honor
an undergraduate student in the fields of mathematics,
the natural sciences and engineering can win.

LEXINGTON,
Ky. (March 22, 2004) -- John
Henton Challis, a senior at the University of
Kentucky from Villa Hills, Ky., has been awarded
the 2004-05 Alpha
Lambda Delta Katherine Cater Fellowship in
the amount of $3,000.
The
Cater Fellowship is one of only 23 awarded by Alpha
Lambda Delta, an academic honor society for first
year students. Students apply for these awards
during their senior year or after receiving their
baccalaureate degree if they have maintained Alpha
Lambda Delta initiation standards throughout their
college careers. The fellowships are used for graduate
study.
