KET To Air Documentary on UK Graduate

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 16, 2004) -- A documentary film about University of Kentucky College of Education graduate and National Geographic photographer Sam Abell that was produced by UK School of Journalism and Telecommunications graduate, Guy Mendez, will be shown on Kentucky Educational Television (KET) 1 (Insight Cable channel 12) at 8 p.m. today.

The film about Abell, who graduated in 1969 and is a member of the Kentucky Journalism Hall of Fame, will also be re-broadcast at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, on KET2 (Insight Cable Channel 15).

Last fall the UK Art Museum featured Abell, a photographer for National Geographic and author of several books, in its Robert C. May Endowment Lecture Series. He also was inducted into the College of Education Hall of Fame, visited with students from the Kentucky Kernel and College of Communications and Information Studies classes.

Abell also is a member of the UK Alumni Association UK Hall of Distinguished Alumni.
