School of Music Presents Holiday Concert

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 19, 2004) -- The University of Kentucky School of Music’s Choral Music Department will present its seventh annual holiday collage concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, and 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5, in the Concert Hall of the Singletary Center for the Arts.

Tickets are $12 for adults and senior citizens and $6 for students and children. Call the Singletary Center Ticket Office at (859) 257-4929 for tickets or reserve tickets on-line.

Among the choral groups that will perform are the AcoUstiKats as well as Paws and Listen. Featured soloists will include UK music professors, organist Schuyler Robinson and clarinetist Scott Wright. This year’s special guests are the UK Steel Drum Band, the Mega-Saxes Quartet (saxophone ensemble), the Lexington Singers Children’s Choir, Alluring Community Handbell Ensemble, and some of the best vocal soloists from the UK School of Music.

Jefferson Johnson, director of UK choral activities, will conduct the concert and Lori Hetzel, associate director of choirs at UK, will assist.

The concert will highlight holiday musical traditions from around the world.
