LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 30, 2004) -- The annual showcase of the University of Kentucky Discovery Seminar Program will be held in the ballrooms of the UK Student Center from11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1.
Now in its ninth year, the program offers 29 seminars for first-year students this semester. Joanna Badagliacco, associate professor in the Department of Sociology in the College of Arts and Sciences, said the small seminars are “outstanding alternatives to large lecture courses, and they fulfill requirements for physical sciences, social sciences or humanities.”
The seminars are open to all first-semester students and Discovery Seminar faculty bring cutting-edge research into the classroom, Badagliacco added. “All seminars are highly interactive and include service and experiential learning, field trips, special projects or productions, and other educational enhancements.”
The showcase is free and open to the public. For further information, visit www.uky.edu/AS/Discovery.
