LEXINGTON,
Ky. (Oct. 11, 2004) -- University
of Kentucky students, faculty, staff and alumni are
celebrating “Cats Just Wanna Have Fun: Homecoming
2004” this week on campus.
Homecoming Week, Oct. 11-16, will
feature several events including a “Paint the
Town Blue” contest, a concert by Lil’
Wayne, patio parties, as well as the traditional pep
rally and parade. Events set for the week are:
Monday, Oct. 11
– Paint the Town Blue contest and Monday Night
Football Party. The football party will be in the
Student Center Cats Den at 9 p.m., and features free
food and prizes.
Tuesday, Oct. 12
– Movie Night, 8 p.m. in the south campus commons
area and north campus courtyard. Movies featured are
“Top Gun” and “Ferris Bueller’s
Day Off.”
Wednesday, Oct. 13
– Lil’ Wayne concert in Memorial Coliseum,
8 p.m. Tickets are $10 for students, $15 for faculty/staff,
and $20 for the general public. Tickets are available
by calling (859) 257-TICS or online.
Thursday, Oct. 14
– Patio Parties, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the
Patterson Office Tower Plaza. Come enjoy free lunch
and wear your 1980s’ gear.
Friday, Oct. 15
– Parade and Pep Rally, 7:30 p.m. Parade begins
from Commonwealth Stadium and will travel up University
Drive, ending on Stoll Field, where the pep rally
will be held. Following the pep rally, musical groups
Circle Four and Spout will perform.
Saturday, Oct. 16
– UK will play South Carolina. Kick-off is at
7 p.m. at Commonwealth Stadium. The 2004 Homecoming
King and Queen will be announced at halftime. To purchase
