LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 23, 2004) -- The University of Kentucky Student Activities Board opens its Spotlight Jazz series with five-time Grammy Award-nominated jazz vocalist, Nnenna Freelon at 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, in the UK Singletary Center for the Arts Concert Hall.

Freelon’s style has been described as sexy, sassy and up-tempo. She sings familiar favorites such as Frank Sinatra’s “Fly Me to the Moon,” and “If I Only Had a Brain,” from the “Wizard of Oz,” as well as many songs of her own. Freelon made her film debut in Mel Gibson’s hit, “What Women Want,” singing her rendition of a classic Sinatra song.

Tickets can be purchased by calling the UK Student Center Ticket Office at (859) 257-8427 or online at www.ticketmaster.com. Ticket prices are $10 for students with a valid identification card, $17 for faculty and staff, and $22 for the general public.
