LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 16, 2005) -- The University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center will offer free prostate cancer screenings from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. March 16. Registration is required. The free screenings are made possible, in part, through the support of Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky Inc.

Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in men, and most cases are diagnosed in men over the age of 40. To qualify for screening, men must be age 40 or older, must not have been screened for prostate cancer in the past year, and must never have been diagnosed with prostate cancer. Because of their increased risk for the disease, men with a family history of prostate cancer and minority men age 35 or older are also eligible for the free screenings.

The screenings will be held in the Whitney-Hendrickson Building, UK Markey Cancer Center. To register or for more information, call UK HealthCare at (859) 257-4488 or (866) 340-4488.
