Nominations Sought for 2005 Gill Award

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 18, 2005) -- The University of Kentucky Linda and Jack Gill Heart Institute is accepting nominations for the 2005 Gill Heart Institute Award for Outstanding Contributions to Cardiovascular Research. The award will recognize an individual who has made outstanding contributions in the field of preventive cardiology. Contributions to training and service will also be considered.

The recipient of the 2005 Gill Award will receive a commemorative plaque as well as a cash prize of $20,000. This individual will be invited to attend a presentation ceremony on Oct. 7, 2005, at the Gill Heart Institute Cardiovascular Research Day, to be held in Lexington, Ky. The award recipient will also be announced in the journal Circulation.

Nominations should be submitted to Alan Daugherty, Gill Heart Institute, University of Kentucky, 521 Wethington Building, Lexington, KY 40536-0200. They may also be sent via e-mail to Alan.Daugherty@uky.edu. Nominations should include a curriculum vitae and a brief statement highlighting the nominee’s major contributions to preventive cardiology research, and are due no later than April 15, 2005.
