LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 21, 2005) -- The University of Kentucky’s annual International Scholar Reception and Scientific Poster Session will give postdoctoral scholars the opportunity to share their research with the public and each other from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 24, in the Small Ballroom of the UK Student Center.

The reception honors international postdoctoral scholars who come from around the world to conduct research at UK. Over 16 participants represent a diverse range of departments across campus and the UK Chandler Medical Center. Scholars come from Romania, Germany, Spain, Australia, India, China, and other areas of the world. The topics they research range from cancer to HIV to fossil fuels to food processing, and more. Fulbright research scholars also are among the participants honored.

“The reception and poster session gives the scholars an opportunity to show UK and the community what they are researching, and gives the scholars an opportunity to see what other postdoctoral scholars are researching,” said Teresa Keller of the Office of International Affairs.

Many postdoctoral scholars are happy to have the opportunity to share their research and to see what other scholars are doing. This poster session has created collaboration opportunities in the past, Keller explained. The event is free and open to the public.
