Jacob Wins 2005 Teetor Education Award

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 2, 2005) -- Jamey D. Jacob, associate professor of mechanical engineering at the University of Kentucky, has been selected to receive the 2005 Ralph R. Teetor Educational Award by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).

To be presented to 13 additional recipients at the SAE AeroTech Congress and Exhibition in early October in Dallas, Texas, the award annually recognizes outstanding engineering educators.

Jacob performs research in aerospace applications with funding from NASA, General Electric Aircraft Engines, Boeing and others. His interests include low-speed aerodynamics, novel aircraft configurations and extraterrestrial aircraft, flow control, vortex flows, bio-fluid flows, and modern measurement techniques. He is the author of more than 50 papers and technical reports.

He has received several awards, including the 2002 Outstanding Mechanical Engineering Teach Award from the UK College of Engineering and the 2002 Governor’s Award for Research Excellence.

He earned his master’s and doctoral degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of California at Berkeley and his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Oklahoma.
