"Glad Tidings of Great
Joy." The seasonal inscription on this years limited edition holiday cards
sends a message of hope and joy. Two talented young patients at UK Childrens
Hospital have shared their youthful spirits by creating artwork for the covers of the
holiday cards.
1997 marks the 10th anniversary of the sale. Proceeds benefit the Childrens
Hospital. The cards are sold in packages of 15 for only $4.99, and will be available
throughout the holiday season at all metro-Lexington Kroger stores and Kroger stores in
Frankfort, Richmond and Mt. Sterling. Employees also may purchase cards through the UK
Childrens Hospital Development Fund office at 7-1121.
Savannah Blair, age 11, a leukemia patient from Oil Springs, spent mornings and nights
working on her picture of frolicking holiday sprites during her three-week stay at the
hospital earlier in the year.
"Savannah was tickled," said her mom, Heather Baldwin. "She never thought
shed be chosen."
Daniel Glasscock, age 9, a patient from Lexington, "draws all of the time," said
mom Kathy
Woodward. Daniel didnt think his picture of a decorated tree would be chosen,
either. "We took him out to dinner to celebrate when we found out," she said.
Last years sale contributed $8,000 to the Childrens Hospital. Proceeds fund
pediatric research, new equipment and program enhancement. Please join the hospitals
commitment to providing the best care for all Kentucky children.By
