LEXINGTON, KY (March 12, 1999) -- Dr. Oswaldo E. Cháves, dean of the Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador School of Medicine, left, and Dr. James W. Holsinger, chancellor of the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center, sign an academic exchange agreement between the four-year-old Ecuadoran school and the UK College of Medicine. Through the agreement, faculty, staff and students will participate in exchange programs, and will exchange publications, research papers and other academic information. "It’s very difficult to develop an institution just inside the boundaries of the country," Cháves said. "We’re excited to share experiences and knowledge with an institution with more experience than ours." Two UK medical students will visit the Pontifical Catholic University School of Medicine in April.
