LEXINGTON, KY (Oct. 28, 1999) – The Linda and Jack Gill Heart Institute at the University of Kentucky will host a research day for Kentucky researchers studying cardiovascular disease and physiology from noon to 5:30 p.m. Oct. 29, followed by a reception and dinner.

The research day will include poster sessions, a presentation by the recipient of the Linda and Jack Gill Heart Institute Award for Outstanding Contributions to Cardiovascular Research and an awards dinner.

This year’s award winner is Eric Olson, Ph.D., professor and chair, Department of Molecular Biology, University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. One aspect of Olson’s research concentrates on studying the mechanisms that control formation of the heart and vasculature during embryo development with the eventual goal of understanding the complex pathways leading to heart formation.
