Roberts Recommended as New Dean for UK College of Pharmacy

Kenneth Roberts, Ph.D., dean of the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy, has been recommended for the position of dean at the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy.

 

LEXINGTON, KY (Oct. 29, 1999) – Kenneth Roberts, Ph.D., dean of the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy, has been recommended for the position of dean at the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy by UK Chandler Medical Center Chancellor James W. Holsinger Jr., M.D., Ph.D.

Holsinger announced to UK College of Pharmacy faculty members today he would recommend to UK President Charles Wethington Jr. that Roberts fill the position. Wethington then will recommend to the UK Board of Trustees the appointment be made.

Roberts also is executive director and research professor at the Research Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Mississippi. He received a bachelor of science degree in pharmacy at the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy in Memphis, a master of business administration degree from UT in Knoxville, and a doctorate from the University of Mississippi.

He has been dean at Mississippi since 1989. Roberts is expected to fill the position beginning in March 2000. William C. Lubawy, Ph.D., associate dean for academic affairs, will continue to serve as interim dean.

The UK College of Pharmacy recently was ranked third among all U.S. pharmacy schools offering graduate degrees in the "America’s Best Graduate Schools" issue of U.S. News & World Report.
