LEXINGTON, KY (May 21, 1999) --
Internationally-renowned surgeons attending a conference in Tunisia watched a minimally
invasive organ transplant -- via television -- performed at University of Kentucky
Hospital. UK Hospital surgeons removed a kidney from Larry Hockensmith and then
transplanted it into his brother Rickey. It was the first time an operation has been
beamed overseas from Kentucky.
