UK budget proposal recommends tuition and fee increase for students
To help increase faculty and staff salaries and maintain a commitment to scholarships, University of Kentucky officials Feb. 8 said they will propose to the UK Board of Trustees a 14.5 percent increase in tuition for the next school year. (more)

Governor's energy plan creates role for research initiatives
A comprehensive state energy plan released recently by Gov. Ernie Fletcher could help spur the University of Kentucky’s efforts to obtain federal research funding.
The plan, among other things, recommends a $2 million pool of matching funds for the state’s universities when they compete for federal research dollars, said Wendy Baldwin, UK’s executive vice president for research. (more)
