McConnell announces 2005 federal earmarks for UK
Farmers and rural families head the long list of Kentuckians who will benefit from several million dollars worth of federal appropriations earmarked for the University of Kentucky in fiscal year 2005 through the efforts of U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell.
Leading the list of funded projects is $3 million for planning and design of a new forage and animal laboratory that enhances the ability of UK and U.S. (more)
Open Enrollment for benefits begins April 18
Open Enrollment for University of Kentucky employee benefits will run from Monday, April 18, through Friday, May 6. An Open Enrollment Web site is available for viewing.
The Open Enrollment Benefits packets will begin arriving in employees’ and retirees’ homes during the week of April 11. The packets include the 2005-06 Benefits Booklet, 2004 Total Compensation Statements for regular full-time employees, and enrollment forms for health, dental, vision, life and accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, and flexible spending account program(s). UK archaeology team explores Bowling Green cave
A team of archaeologists from the University of Kentucky’s Department of Anthropology made three explorations in January and February of a newly discovered cave on property in Bowling Green where the TriModal Transpark is located.
The very narrow cave also contained simple prehistoric scratched drawings known as “mudglyphs” and charcoal on the floor from torches that were apparently used by explorers to light their way through the approximately 2,000 feet of passageway, most of which was at “stoop level.” (more)
