Dream Tour travels across the state
I am writing this blurb from The Dream Tour bus. Flanked by deans, faculty, students and administrators, we are visiting 20 communities across Kentucky to share the university’s goals and missions with the people of this state. We are reaching out to various constituencies across Kentucky – from guidance counselors and principals to legislators and alumni – to explain the importance of UK being a Top-20 public research university.(more)
Ronald McDonald Care Mobile Program and UK to offer care
In an effort to provide access to health care for underserved children, Ronald McDonald House Charities in partnership with the University of Kentucky colleges of Dentistry and Medicine launched a state-of-the-art Ronald McDonald Care Mobile – the most comprehensive vehicle of its kinds in Kentucky, valued at over $323,000. The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile program brings education and preventive medical and dental services directly into local neighborhoods with unmet health care needs. The charity will have 32 programs in operation by the end of 2005. (more)
UK begins second round of Appalachian math/science awards
University of Kentucky President Lee T. Todd Jr. announced this month a second round of Partnership Enhancement Programs (PEP) grants from UK’s highly successful Appalachian Math Science Partnership (AMSP) program to elementary, middle and high schools in 12 Appalachian counties in Kentucky, Tennessee and Virginia.
