Awards logoGLENN KOTCHE , 1994 percussion graduate of the University of Kentucky School of Music, won a Grammy Award as a member of the Chicago-based band, Wilco. The group captured the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album for their latest release, "A Ghost Is Born," on Nonesuch Records. The album also won a second Grammy for Best Recording Package.

ELAINE YOUNCE , senior manager, Managed Care Finance, recently achieved the Certified Healthcare Finance Professional status in the Healthcare Financial Management Association.    

UK College of Dentistry third-year student, SHANE SYKES, was recently awarded the American Dental Education Association/Listerine® Preventive Dentistry Scholarship for 2005. It is a $2,500 scholarship awarded nationally to 12 recipients to support pre-doctoral dental students who have demonstrated academic excellence in preventive dentistry.  

JUSTIN W. CAMPBELL , administrative director, UK Linda and Jack Gill Heart Institute, ANN L. SMITH, assistant hospital director, UK Hospital, and R. TODD HICKEY, administrative director, Markey Cancer Center, have recently attained Diplomat level in the American College of Healthcare Executives by passing the Certified Healthcare Executive examination.

ROBERT C. MARSHALL ,professor of Communication Disorders, UK College of Health Sciences, presented a poster titled “Performance of Normal Participants on the Rapid Assessment of Problem Solving Test (RAPS)” at the Feb. 2-5 meeting of the International Neuropsychological Society in St. Louis, Mo.

Housing logo ROBERT BOSTROM, professor emeritus in the Department of Communications, College of Communications and Information Studies, recently served as a consultant for the Law School Admission Council of Newtown, Pa., in the development of a new version of the Law School Admission Test. The LSAT is the principal screening test for most American law schools. The LSAC is considering adding a section testing listening skills, as well as administering the test by computer. Bostrom has been the author of several listening tests, such as the PRAX S examination given by the Educational Testing Service .
