Campus Moped Policies to Change Effective August 1

Effective August 1, all motorized scooters, mopeds and motorcycles will be treated identically in regards to rights and responsibilities.

Scooters and mopeds will be required to obtain a parking permit and utilize motorcycle parking areas on campus, and will no longer be permitted to park at bicycle racks. These areas are conveniently located throughout campus and are marked by the presence of signage, green lines or both. In addition to these parking changes, scooters and mopeds will no longer be permitted to drive or travel on sidewalks, bike paths or lawns.

Anyone wishing to park a motorcycle, scooter or moped on campus must register each vehicle with Parking and Transportation Services. During the 2009-2010 permit year, employees and students with motor vehicle parking permits will be eligible for complimentary moped/motorcycle permits.

This change in policy is designed to encourage safe operating and parking procedures for these vehicles and free up bicycle parking areas for bicycle-only parking. For more information, please visit www.uky.edu/Parking/parking-regulations.html.

Parking Structure #2 Maintenance to Block Spaces

Beginning Monday, August 3, routine maintenance in Parking Structure #2, located on Rose Street with the entrance on Hilltop Avenue, will block up to 220 spaces.

During this time, entrances & exits will remain open. Employees are urged to allow extra time as there are likely to be minor delays and the possibility of having to look elsewhere for parking if the garage is full.

The construction is expected to last until Monday, August 31. However, construction is weather-dependent and delays are possible. Visit us on Twitter at www.twitter.com/UKParking to stay informed.
