Detour Notice: S. Limestone Between Cooper and Virginia

S. Limestone between Waller Avenue/Cooper Drive and Virginia Avenue will be closed between 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, and 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12, for the erection of a pedestrian bridge connecting the UK HealthCare parking garage with the new UK Albert B. Chandler Hospital now under construction.

The UK HealthCare parking garage located at S. Limestone and Transcript Avenue (directly across S. Limestone from the UK HealthCare medical campus) will remain open to patients, visitors and employees. The garage may be accessed via Rose Street.

Drivers going north on Nicholasville Road who need to access UK Chandler Hospital and the UK HealthCare parking garage should turn right onto Cooper Drive, then left onto University, left onto Huguelet Drive and left again on Rose Street/Hospital Drive. After passing in front of the hospital, traffic will cross South Limestone at Transcript to enter the garage.

As local traffic will be allowed between Virginia Avenue and the construction area, drivers going south on S. Limestone can proceed to Transcript Avenue and turn right to access the garage as they normally would.

Northbound through traffic on South Limestone should turn left at Waller Avenue, proceed to South Broadway and turn right. Turn right at Virginia Avenue then left onto South Limestone. A map of the detours can be viewed at www.ukhealthcare.uky.edu/pdfs/Bridge_Closure_flyer.pdf.

In case of inclement weather, the construction and closure will be rescheduled for Oct. 16-19.
