The University of Kentucky now requires that everyone who parks a bicycle on campus obtain and display a valid bicycle permit. Parking & Transportation Services (PTS) registers bicycles that will be on campus and issues bicycle permits. The free permits are decals that adhere to the bike. No registration fees are associated with this program.
Online bike registration is currently available at www.uky.edu/Parking/services-parking-account-manager.html. You will need to login with your linkblue ID and password. Once you are logged in, you will see “Purchase Permit” available in the menu (near the bottom). Click on that and follow the directions on the next screen. This should take you to a page which allows you to select a bike permit. If you have more than one bike that you wish to register, you may do so at this time. Please note that processing and delivery for online applications may take up to one week. Permits may also be obtained in person at Parking Structure #6 (721 Press Avenue), Parking Structure #5 (located next to Kennedy Book Store) or 110 Transcript Avenue (UK HealthCare Parking Garage).
For more information about cycling at UK, go to www.uky.edu/parking/transportation-bicycle-info.html and also read our Bicycle FAQs.
A new low-power radio station will provide parking and transportation information to University of Kentucky students, employees and visitors on or near campus. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has granted a radio station broadcast license to UK for use by Parking and Transportation Services.
The station is now on the air. The station’s call sign is WQKH 253; it will broadcast 24 hours a day on the AM radio band at 1700 KHz (1700 AM), with primarily pre-recorded messages.
The radio station will broadcast general and other notable parking and transportation information as available, targeting the UK community, including students, employees and visitors. The station will reach a 3-mile radius; communication will focus on those already on campus and those approaching campus.

University of Kentucky Parking & Transportation Services (PTS) is pleased to announce the launch of AlterNetRides, a new online ride-sharing service. The new program will connect UK faculty, staff, students, and guests who wish to coordinate carpools, and, in the process, save gas and money and decrease their impact on the environment.
UK AlterNetRides is an online program; those interested in ride-sharing will need a valid e-mail address to participate. Users will be able to search for those with similar transportation needs by time of day, frequency, and location. By communicating through the AlterNetRides Web site, personal information such as e-mail address and phone number remain confidential unless the user chooses to share them with another rider.
The ride-matching service is provided by PTS free of charge. The only costs are those that the members of the carpool agree to share, such as fuel or vehicle maintenance costs. Carpools with three or more riders are also eligible to purchase a carpool parking permit. The service can be used to find rides on a daily basis, a one-time ride or anything in between.
PTS is excited to bring AlterNetRides to the UK community. With gas prices and environmental concerns both on the rise, the program is a good fit for the University. Visit www.uky.edu/parking/transportation-ridematch.html for more information.
