Semester Break Parking & Transit
During the break between the fall and spring semesters, demand for student parking is greatly reduced. As a result, Parking and Transportation Services does not control many of the student areas for permits during this period.
In general, all Residential ("R") lots and all single use Commuter ("C") lots are off control from December 15th through January 6th. All joint use Employee/Commuter ("E/C") lots will remain on control for permits during the semester break.
Bus Service During the Semester Break
CATS and LexTran campus bus service will not operate between semesters. The on-demand night bus will resume service on Sunday, January 6th, with one bus to accommodate students returning to campus. All CATS service will resume normal operations on Monday, January 7th. LexTran Stadium Route service will resume on Wednesday, January 9th.
For the 2007-08 semester break, we will run one CATS bus on a campus route. The abbreviated route will run December 17th - 21st, December 24th, and January 2nd - 4th from 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Please view the Semester Break Route for pick-up times and locations.
The Medical Center Shuttle will not have service on December 25th and January 1st. To support continual operations at the UK Hospital, the route will run 6:00 a.m. until midnight December 26th - 28th and December 31st, but with only two buses on the route. The route will return to normal service on January 2nd.
The KY Clinic Shuttle will not have service from December 25th through January 1st. The route will resume normal operation on January 2nd.
During the semester break, UK Hospital employees are encouraged to park Parking Structure #1 on Veterans Drive, Parking Structure #2 on Hilltop Avenue, or in student resident (R) lots that are not controlled for permits between December 15th and January 6th.

- C3 - Parking Structure #7 - Sports Center Drive (Permit Required; Structure Closed December 22nd - January 1st)
- C5 - Parking Structure #5 - S. Limestone (Permit Required; Structure Closed December 25th - January 1st)
- C7 - Scott Street and Taylor/Dickey Lots (Permit Required)

UK Hospital and KY Clinic Patient/Visitor Parking
- Parking Structure #3 - Structure will remain open at all times; No attendant on duty on December 25th and January 1st.
- Hospital Parking Garage (Parking Structure #8) - Structure will remain open at all times; No attendant on duty on December 25th and January 1st.
Additional Instructions
Please note that even though these lots are not controlled for permits, they are still monitored for other parking violations to include, but not limited to, parking in fire lanes, on yellow lines, and in disabled reserved parking.
All parking meters remain on control during the semester break.
All lots will resume normal control on Monday, January 7th, except the "K" portion of Commonwealth Stadium. The "K" area will resume control on Wednesday, January 16th.
